McGivney Council #29 runs numerous events throughout the year focused on the principles of Faith, Charity, Community, Family/Youth, and Fraternity
Our Community Events:
Throughout our parishes and community, we host numerous community based services and events, such as:
- Annual Charity Golf Outing
- Lenten Fish Fries
- Donations of gift cards for food to our parishes to be distributed to those in need
- Trivia Knights
- Tootsie Roll Drives to benefit Ability Beyond
- Blood Drives
- Marching in the Danbury Memorial Day Parade
- Wreaths Across America
- Monthly assistance at Dorothy Day
- Annual Oktoberfest BBQ outside of the St. Joseph Church Tag Sale
- Clean up day at the Newman Center (Campus Ministry at WCSU)
- Support for St. Gregory the Great’s Forest of Fear
- Support for St. Gregory the Great’s Annual Carnival
- Support for St. Peter School’s Breakfast with Santa
- Support for St. Peter School’s Craft Fair fundraiser

- Rosary Making Events
- Patriotic Rosaries

- Consecration to the Holy Family
- Building the Domestic Church
- Keep Christ in Christmas Signs at all of our Parishes
- Sacramental Gifts through our Bears for Baptism Program

Supporting our Youth and Families is extremely important to us:
- Free Throw Challenge
- Soccer Penalty Kick Shootout
- Annual Scholarship Breakfast for Catholic Education
- Coats for Kids (in 2024, we were able to donate more than 470 new coats to kids in need in Danbury)
- Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest
- Polar Express Movie Night
- Annual Geography Bee celebrating Catholic Education

Our Fraternal Events:
Fraternity and brotherhood is key to our council’s success. As such, we also conduct:
- Annual Chili Cookoff
- Attend a Westerner’s Game as a group
